TalkingNote
Terms of Use
Welcome to TalkingNote. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use TalkingNote on Apple devices you own or control, for personal or work purposes. You may not reverse engineer the app, resell it, or use it for unlawful purposes.
2. Account and subscriptions
Live transcription and AI summaries require Sign in with Apple. New users receive a one-time gift of 60 minutes of live transcription on first sign-in; it does not reset.
TalkingNote offers four auto-renewable subscriptions, each billed monthly or yearly. All plans include the same features; they differ only in the amount of live transcription included each month:
- Plus: 200 minutes per month
- Pro: 1,200 minutes per month
- Max: 3,000 minutes per month
- Unlimited: unlimited, subject to a fair-use cap of 12,000 minutes (200 hours) per month. The cap exists to prevent automated use, resale, or other use beyond normal personal use. If you reach it, live transcription pauses for the rest of the period unless you buy a top-up, and resumes automatically at the next billing period.
Prices are shown on the purchase screen. Monthly subscriptions reset their minutes at the start of each billing period; yearly subscriptions reset them once a month on the subscription day. Unused subscription time does not roll over.
We also offer one-time minute packs:
- Starter pack: 180 minutes, limited to one purchase per account;
- Top-up: 60 minutes, can be bought any number of times.
Minute packs do not renew, and purchased minutes never expire; they are not reset by billing periods. Your pack balance is stored on your account, so it is available on any device where you sign in with the same account. If you delete your account, any unused pack balance is permanently removed.
Usage is deducted from the current subscription period's allowance first, then from any remaining free gift time, and finally from your minute-pack balance. Time is measured by the audio duration of live transcription; AI summaries do not use up time but may be rate limited. Our server's records are authoritative for remaining time.
Subscription details:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions. After cancelling, the subscription stays active until the end of the current period.
- Refunds are handled by Apple. Please request one through Apple's "Report a Problem" page; we cannot refund purchases directly. If a minute pack is refunded, its minutes are removed from your balance.
- When your time runs out or you have no subscription, you can still record and keep the audio on your phone, but live transcription is unavailable.
- You can delete your account in the app. Deleting your account does not cancel your Apple subscription; please cancel it in iOS Settings first.
- "Restore Purchases" restores subscriptions. Minute-pack balances are kept on your account and come back when you sign in with the same account.
3. Third-party processing services
Live transcription and AI summaries are relayed by our server to third-party providers (currently Soniox for transcription and OpenAI for summaries). We are not responsible for the availability, quality, or data practices of third-party services; see the Privacy Policy for how data is handled.
4. Record lawfully
You are responsible for making sure your recording is lawful. Where the law requires it, you must have consent from the people you record. You may not use TalkingNote to violate anyone's privacy or other legal rights. You are solely responsible for how you use recordings you make.
If you use voice recognition, you confirm that before saving another person's voiceprint you have told that person and obtained their consent, and that you comply with the biometric-information laws that apply where you are. Voice recognition can be wrong; use it only to label speakers in your notes, never for identity verification or for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on anyone.
5. AI output can be wrong
Transcripts and AI summaries are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies; speaker labels can also be wrong. Check the original recording before relying on the output for important decisions, such as legal, medical, or financial matters.
6. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
TalkingNote is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, including data loss. Please back up recordings that matter to you. Our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid for TalkingNote in the 12 months before the claim arose.
7. Apple Standard EULA
In addition to these terms, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) applies: Apple Standard EULA. If the two conflict, Apple's Standard EULA prevails.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we will update this page in the app and change the "Last updated" date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
